You can’t breathe money.We are late but not too late. Why protest against EIA draft 2020?

 

We still believe that its late but it’s not too late, read below then decide should we support EIA2020 or reject EIA2020, It’s your decision which can save our environment, our resources and our life. Special thanks to all the medias in India who have not even bothered to discuss these issues, please open your eyes and ears to these topics too rather than running behind all those sensational useless garbage news 👏. The campaign you can’t breathe money is everywhere now with #rejectEIA2020, we are pleased that the social media is discussing this. As everyone is aware this campaign is against EIA(Environmental Impact Assessment) draft 2020, which became a controversial topic now, all environmentalists and activists are against EIA draft 2020 is for many reasons. If you unaware of what is EIA(Environmental Impact Assessment) or EIA draft 2020 check out EIA and EIA 2020.This term is not new to all of us , we use to hear this every year, we use to talk about this every occasion and the term pollution is a common word in world, there will not a student who haven’t done any speeches or debates or heard speeches on any type of pollution, this was a favorite topic which gives us easy mark in our school life, but sad that all these remain only as debate topics or essay topics in India.

 

You can’t eat money or drink money or breathe money

In India everyone realized this or thought about the importance of environment sustainability in 1984 during Bhopal Gas Tragedy, commonly known as Bhopal disaster. Approximately 40 tones of toxic methyl isocyanate gas, exposed to more than 500,000 people to toxic gases and killing about 15k-20k people. With this every one realized the importance of environmental balance and Environmental protection Act and EIA came to act. Industrialization and setting up of production factories was a common practice in developing India, more industries means more job means more profit and less poverty. Many factories started to setup at that time within some year we realized money is not everything, air became so polluted, our divine rivers became unusable even rivers like ganga became most populated rivers, we lost precious flora and fauna which was our own. All these forced government to think about protection act or norms.

In India, people in Delhi know very well that you can’t breathe money, every year pollution in Delhi rise to the extreme that you can’t even go out, can’t breathe without air filter mask or purifiers.2.2 million children in Delhi suffers from lung disease, less immunity and causing to Cancer like deadly disease.Even in Corona fight these disease and low immunity due to pollution made the fight difficult. In India almost million people dies due to air pollution per year which is even very high that this deadly covid-19.Many of our rivers are already dead, air is toxic and food is poison. By realizing the importance of environment protection each year government spends millions of rupees to clean rivers like ganga and to reduce air pollution etc.

Impact on human life

Whatever we discussed earlier is just 0.1% of what is happening, Delhi is just a starting or we can say Delhi is only the trailer the real movie is yet to see. You all will notice that in past 4-5 years everything has changed a lot or you have missed to notice due to busy run behind money. Global warming  and Acid rain are some common term related to environmental unbalance all over the world. Floods in states in Kerala, Assam has become a common yearly visit killing thousands, landslide has become a common natural phenomenon. You all have posted the forest fire in Amazon which contributes 20% of world’s oxygen, death of kangaroos in Australia and so on in last year. Year 2020 we witnessed many tragic situations other than corona, like landslides everywhere, cyclones, floods and gas leak so on. Hospitals became cooperates and patients became common, bottle water became essential even now we didn’t how danger we are in , how much we have harmed our environment. Wild animals are coming to cities , wild elephants comes to evening walks, tigers takes our domestic animals as dinner even then we are blaming them not us to what we are doing to environment.

Ten years from now when some has cancer then its OMG and now its OKAY, the difference between OMG and OKAY is the graph of environmental change, Out of 13 new cancer patients in world one is an Indian. India has about 1.8 million cancer patients around the world. Not only cancer, diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) became common. Average life of span of an Indian has reduced, in the run of money no one have noticed that, our life cycle has changed, weather cycle is abnormal, no prediction on rain. Summers are like drought and rainy season is flood and winter is like freezers and springs are only in poems. We humans are highly dependent on environment but we still think we can breathe, eat and drink money. We will lose all our valuable resources, our flora and fauna, all animals and plants will be endangered and at last animal on planet will be humans which will also become endangered, on that day we will realize what we did.

It is not our fault, it is the fault of our education. In biology classes we learned that humans are special, humans are at the top of the pyramid, we have many other skill than other animals but we forgot at the end we are only animals. Its our education system which should be changed, what we all learned is that money is everything, money is happiness. But at the time when we realize that You can’t breathe with money its too late.

Why protest against EIA draft 2020?

All the points discussed above are only a small portion of what is happening and the main and important point to be noted in bold is that till now we had EIA2006 which address the limitations of old EIA and much more powerful than EIA 2020, even after that in 2020 life has become difficult for both animals(including humans) and plants. In EIA2006 every one needed pre clearance, no exception for any company and there was permission for citizens to go for legal fight against all these environmental harmful industries or construction. Even after all these there are hundreds and hundreds of illegal land mines, construction, industries which effect environment like anything. All these illegal constructions only lead to all these day to day flood, landslides and even droughts, now a single day rain means flood or landslides. Funny and heartbreaking point is that those who do these constructions are sleeping peacefully on bed with money and common Indians are suffering from years, they lost their lives, dear ones, houses and what not. Animals lost their lives, their habitat which forced them to migrate to cities which leads to their end. Please remember that every day we are losing our precious resources, all plants and animals are now endangered. Tomorrow to our children we have to show them videos and images of animals like Rhino, elephants and will say once upon a time they lived on earth like mammoth or dinosaurs, those days are not too far.

If you still think that money can give you oxygen, water and food, yes it is. In Delhi you have oxygen parlous and water already became a common product to buy using money, but remember days are not too far when everything will be changed; even your money can’t buy you any oxygen or water, when we will lose everything our culture, our environment, our resources and what not. If you lose money you can make it back but if you lose earth, or environment, rivers, mountains then that is the end you can’t imagine to bring it back. We still believes that we are late but not too late, EIA 2020 should be changed, make it more environmental friendly than making it cooperate friendly. Withdraw post clearance, remove exception list, allow local people to fight for their lives. We are not with #rejectEIA2020 we want to change EIA2020 and make it more environment friendly. Save Earth, Save Environment, Save Forest, Save Rivers and Save us.

Covid-19 which kills in thousand, which can be cured up to a limit, we all are so much panic, took great protection measures, government made so many laws and so much cares which is great to control Covid-19 and we support that. But the situation which has no cure, no come back and which is killing millions of people, killing rivers, vanishing mountains, destroying forest and erasing all animals and birds, which made flood, earthquake, landslides, forest fires etc a usual process, we are least bothered no protection measures.
