One Rape Every 15 Minutes in India – Over 2 lakh rape cases pending in courts

Hathras case is burning India but that is not a single or odd case in India, according to the  National Crime Records Bureau’s (NCRB) ‘Crime in India’ 2019 report there is one rape in every 15 minutes in India which is very shocking.  2019 alone reported 4,05,861 cases of crime against women which is 7.3% more than that in 2018. In 2019 country has recorded 89 cases per day but most shocking reality is that there will be many more cases which are not reported or may be purposefully avoided. Out of the total rapes reported 11% is from Dalit community.

One Rape Every 15 Minutes in India – Statistics shows an increase of 7.3%
NCRB data is released annually, usually after two years. Data has been significantly delayed in the Narendra Modi government and some aspects are not there yet. However, the statistics on violence against women in 2018 are staggering. Beti Bachao Beti Padao - Compared to various federal government campaigns - the crime rate per 100,000 women increased from 57.9% in 2017 to 58.8% in 2018.

India came to road to protest against such incidents in 2012, the case of a young woman from Delhi, led to the expulsion of Nirbhaya from the media. She is kidnapped by a group of men and repeatedly raped on a moving bus. They cut off her body before throwing her off the bus. The federal government set up a special "Nirbhaya Fund" in 2013 to help women who have been attacked to improve public safety. But none of these stages reduced the number of rapes.

Rape cases in India are very poorly investigated and are being investigated because the power structures are deeply in line with patriarchal societies. Several recent cases have emphasized this.

Data show that the rape rate has increased after murder because criminals know they are more likely to be sentenced to life imprisonment, so they kill women after they have been raped. Critics point out that data on lynching deaths have not yet been added. There have been a lot of group incidents targeting minority community.

India the most dangerous country for a woman

New survey shows that sexual violence and slave labor is very high in India making India the worst country. The Thomson Reuters Foundation released its results on Tuesday in a survey of 550 experts on women's issues, saying India is the most dangerous country for sexual violence against women, as well as human trafficking for domestic work, forced labor, marriage and other forms of sexual slavery. It is the most dangerous country in the world for cultural traditions that affect women, the survey found, citing acid attacks, gynecological disability, child marriage and physical abuse. In a similar survey seven years ago, India was the fourth most dangerous country for women.

India the most dangerous country for a woman
According to the Times of India, Rekha Sharma, chairperson of the National Commission for Women, said the sample test size was too small. "We have no way of being in the first place in such a survey. Among the countries that India ranks next, there are women who are not allowed to speak in public," Sharma said.

We also believe that the report is not correct and India is not the first but the situation is not good in India, a rape in every 15 minutes is too much and 4,05,861 cases of crime against women were reported in 2019 alone. Acid attacks against women are another leading issue of India. In India rape is the fourth most crime against women.

The government of India should take these numbers very seriously and should pass laws against crime against women.  Fast tracks should be improved so that the justice is provided as soon as possible.

Rape Statistics in India - Rajasthan tops in rape cases in India

National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2019 data revealed that Rajasthan has highest number of rapes across the country followed by Uttar Pradesh. This data become prominent due to Hathras rape case, whole India got shocked after hearing the report.  Rajasthan recorded 5, 997 rape cases per year and UP comes second with 3065 which makes these states worst for women.

Delhi is worst city for women according to report followed by Jaipur. In Delhi 1231 cases reported and Jaipur reported 517 cases but when we consider rate/lakh Jaipur is the worst city in India for women with 35.6%.

These deserts state and city seems to be very unsafe for women, cases in Rajasthan is increasing every year 4,335 in 2018 and 5,997 last year. These states women are unsafe but being a cow is safer.  The worst reality is that there are many unreported cases happening and even if victims are killed that cases are registered against murder.

Shameful thing is that the number keeps on increasing every year. Maharashtra tops in the cases with the number of gang rapes. Most astonishing part of the report was that almost half of 3102 rape cases in the state fall in the list of friends, boyfriends, online friends, relatives or by partner.

The state is still living in the feudal mindset where women are treated as object; mindset is the greatest villan here. Everyone should change the mindset by which they see women, they are not an object or slave, they have all rights and freedom you have.

Congress started making this a tool against BJP and which they will be using in next election. The reports are very painful that the numbers are increasing and the state government of UP and Rajasthan is lest bothered about this. As we mentioned early the state which is busy building Ram Mandir has no time to save Sita. Ravan was far better than those criminals who commit these crimes.

Over 2 lakh rape and POCSO cases pending in courts

There are more than 240,000 cases pending in courts regarding rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act was in place across the country as of December last year. Indian law promises for the completion of rape cases through fast track courts within a year but there is a sharp increase in the pendency of such cases. According to data released from various high courts and later released by the Union Ministry of Justice, the number of such cases across the country has increased by more than 46% since March 2018.  Delhi is reporting the highest growth of 353% in the year.
Rape Statistics in India - Rajasthan tops in rape cases in India

The highest number of pending cases in Uttar Pradesh is between 36,000 and 67,000 between March 2018 and December 2019vfollowed by Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Uttar Pradesh shows an increase of 80% in such cases and number of pending POCSO cases are also increasing. The government should take actions to fasten this process, because fastening the cases will also impact on reduction of such cases. Out of the total pending cases majority of the cases is POCSO, which again make the children to suffer from mental trauma since they are not receiving justice on time.

Government of India should take actions to fasten these pending cases and should come up with a strict law to stop this. The way of education should be changed and the importance of sex education should also be considered with high importance with NEP2020.

We don’t have any new name in trending hashtag, we want to stop everything. We all should raise our voice against this; we want every woman to be safe and should be given equal importance and respect which every man is getting. We want an India where our women can walk or travel safely at anytime and anywhere in India without any fear.
